For an insight into the earliest stages of Picasso’s artistic development Barcelona’s Picasso museum is a must.

He spent much of his childhood in the city, and only left it to settle down in Paris.It has the most extensive collection of sketches,oil paintings and drawings.Highlights include some of the most famous works from the Blue Period and early Cubist works.

The whole collection is housed in five medieval palaces that are of interest in their own right.
